In a study performed in North America, it was found that as temperatures rises the accident rate also increased. NASA did a study on telegraph operators and found that at a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, 5 mistakes were made in the first hour and over a 3 hour period 19 mistakes were made. When the temperature rises to 35 degrees Celsius, 60 mistakes were made in the first hour and at the end of 3 hours, 138 mistakes were made. These individual were not keeping their hydration state up during the 3 hour period and it is highly likely that mistakes would have been less if they were properly hydrated during this 3 hour period.
